Dance

Dance I

P.E. graduation credit for CUSD and LBHS students
This two-semester course covers beginning levels of dance, including, but not limited to, jazz, modern, and ballet. Students will be introduced to dance conditioning, dance history, nutrition, injury prevention, and elements of choreography. Students will be instructed in the fundamentals of working and performing in a professional dance company.

Dance II

P.E. graduation credit for CUSD and LBHS students
This two-semester course covers intermediate levels of dance, including, but not limited to, jazz, modern, and ballet. Students will be introduced to dance conditioning, dance history, stage and theater etiquette, nutrition, injury prevention, and elements of choreography. Students will be instructed in the fundamentals of working and performing in a professional dance company.

Dance III

P.E. graduation credit for LBHS students
Advanced level. Students must audition for placement in this course. This two-semester course covers advanced levels of dance with an emphasis on classical technique including, but not limited to, ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, hip hop, and contemporary dance. Students will be introduced to dance history, stage and theater etiquette, nutrition and injury prevention, and elements of choreography. Students will be given the opportunity to work with master teachers and lecturers throughout the year. Students will learn and rehearse repertoire for two concerts per year. Students will be instructed in the fundamentals of working and performing in a professional dance company.

Dance IV

P.E. graduation credit for LBHS students
Advanced / intermediate level. Students must audition for placement in this course. This two-semester course covers advanced levels of dance with an emphasis on contemporary technique including, but not limited to, jazz, ballet, modern, hip hop, and contemporary dance. Students will be given the opportunity to work with master teachers and lecturers throughout the year. Students will be introduced to dance history, stage and theater etiquette, nutrition, injury prevention, and elements of choreography. Students will learn and rehearse repertoire for two concerts per year. Students will be instructed in the fundamentals of working and performing in a professional dance company.

Dance Company

P.E. graduation credit for LBHS students
All levels. Students must audition for placement in this course. In this two-semester course students will learn and rehearse new choreography from faculty and guest artists for performance in the winter or spring concerts. Students will be given the opportunity to work with master teachers and lecturers throughout the year. Students will be instructed in the fundamentals of working and performing in a professional dance company.
