Medical Assistant

Medical Assistant I: Administrative

 (High school students only or adult fee-based course)

Prerequisite: Certificate of Completion from Medical Core, Health Careers, or introduction to Surgical Technician. 

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the skills required for front office in a medical facility through classroom instruction and hands-on learning. Students will learn computerized scheduling procedures, receptionist duties, records management, collections, health insurance billing, and medical terminology. Students must receive a Certificate of Completion to meet the prerequisite requirement for Medical Assistant II: Clinical.

Medical Assistant II: Clinical

(High school students only or adult fee-based course)

(Biological Science graduation credit for CUSD students) 
Prerequisite: 
Certificate of Completion from Medical Assistant I, or instructor approval.

This course provides a comprehensive overview of clinical skills required for the medical assistant through classroom instruction and hands-on learning. Students will receive instruction on anatomy, medical terminology, pharmacology, emergency procedures, minor office surgical procedures, injection and venipuncture, laboratory procedures, EKG, CPR certification and vital signs
